Sound does not work WITHOUT apci=off command

I have a thinkpad x60 and problems with sound since Feisty. In Dapper sound worked fine, after upgrade to Feisty sound often didn't work(but sometimes did, had to reboot quite often)

Wanting to fix this I came to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto, but this made sound to stop working, this time always.

I found out that setting the kernel boot option apci=off, makes sound working. But I don't want to make apci off, as I am using Suspend and hibernate every day.

I resolved the problem by adding the following line to the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:

options snd-hda-intel index=0 single_cmd=1 model=laptop-eapd

Now the sound ALWAYS works, even without the boot option apci=off.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and is being marked as Won't Fix for the kernel version the bug was submitted about. You can learn more about the stable release update process at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates .
However, the issue that you reported is one that should be possible to test with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the actively developed kernel.
