I had this problem on a clean install of Gutsy. I then did a clean install of Edgy and updated to Feisty and that ended the life of the mouse. I went back to Edgy and it is still working. Have these patches been added to Hardy 8:04? This older machine has an Asus socket 7 and an AMDK6-2+ processor and the latest BIOS. That makes it a 1997 machine with ISA, PCI and no USB.. Regards Ian.
