Bug Description

Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.20-15-generic-di

My system often hangs for about 10-30 seconds and everything concerning disk usage doesnt work. After this time system responds normal. Happens at least every two hours and makes me quite nervous about my valuable data.. ;-)

i too have the exact same issue and thats with the feisty final release kernel.

my laptop is an asus z96f with Intel cpu and chipset.

the basic problem seems to surround the following dmesg and syslog messages:

please let me know if there are any other tests you would like performed to help track down this issue as it is essentially a show stopper and might require immediate update for feisty.

Bug 84603 is the same problem and has a workaround. The new ata-piix driver doesn't play nicely with HAL, so use the old piix driver instead.
