Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

I got SB Audigy SE sound card that is running on CA0106 driver module but unfortunately I cannot get sound in all available channels (6 - this is 5.1 card), ony right and left front are available.

I also know from alsa-project.org page that analog and digital input is not working so maybe someone could take a look at this module and improve.

As Helio has almost identical problem, I think that I can change it's status to confirmed.

Changed in linux-source-2.6.15:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

There have been many improvements to this driver lately. Dapper needs to be updated to use the ALSA 1.0.11 version.

funny enough, as already mentioned all together the channels do not play except the front left/rights.
However in xmms for instance if configured under > options > preferences > output plugin > ALSA 1.2.10 > configure > audio device setting - should you choose hw:0,0 hw:0,1 hw:0,2 it does play through other channels!!! So in theory it works :) wuld be great to get it to work all together now!

I have the same problem, look @ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=13366

Seems the card is ^(&*( , no hardware acceleration.

Ubunutu should provide a blacklist of hardware which doesn't work well on Linux so manufactures will provide better support to the developers. If I knew what I know now I wouldnt have supported Creative.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this linux-source-2.6.15 kernel bug to the new "linux" package. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Also, if you would be interested in testing the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release, it is available at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Please let us know your results. Thanks!

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

Muchas gracias.

Hi ivancente,

I apologize for my lack of spanish literacy - but would you (or anyone else here) be able to translate that last comment into English? Thanks.

Sorry, my english is bad... but
I have a problem with this soundcard, and sounds aplicattions like
Audacity, Ardour, etc, I can't record in Tracks (more than one track
and play that was recorded), and playback, i configured it of all
possible modes,

The other problem is the card is 7.1 but sounds only in 2.1, This is
not an important problem to me because now i'm using a 2.1 sound
system, but is a problem to play dvd, etc

Any solution? Thanks :)

The correct solution is to use a custom routing table via an asoundrc. (PulseAudio will attempt to address this issue differently.)

I'm having the some problems.
I have a costly Sound Blaster system with seven speakers plus the woofer and I just get the woofer and the two front speakers playing. I have the latest Ubuntu version. I have one Audigy SE and it's a pity just having sound on two speakers
