Bug Description

I have this ethernet adapter that uses the sk98lin driver.
Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c940 10/100/1000Base-T [Marvell] (rev 12)

Sometimes when I fire up Ubuntu I can't get a network connection. I have to deactivate and activate the card to get the connection up again. Usually this happens after updates Dapper 6.06 b2. About every fifth time this happens :(

I also have this WLAN-card:
Network controller: RaLink Ralink RT2500 802.11 Cardbus Reference Card (rev 01)

But my gateway device is always eth0 (sk98lin)

Have you tried using System -> Administration -> Networking (network-admin) to set the default gateway device (under Connections, bottom of dialog)?

Yes I have to do that every now and then. Sometimes it's almost like opening
the network manager and just doing anything there will get my eth0 up.
Usually I just do deactivat -> activate + gateway eth0 ...then it works. The
weird part is that this problem doesn't occur everytime I start my computer
:(

Does this still occur in either Dapper or Edgy?
