CMI9761 audio codec not well supported in dapper

Hardware : ASUS A7N8X-XE with Nforce2 MCP2-RAID, C-Media CMI9761A
Athlon XP 2000+, 2x256 Mb memory, ASUS A9250 graphic board, broadband access.
Problem :
Installation of RealPlayer (file realplay-10.0.7.785-linux-2.2-libc6-gcc32-i586)
When listening to the BBC, sound OK but :
1. sound master level has no effect on the sound level
2. Firefox reacts very slowly to mouse mouvments or keyboard actions

/proc/asound/cards returns :

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'alsa'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

Do you still have these problems with an updated dapper, or on the Edgy beta live cd? Thank you for your feedback.

Presuming the original reporter did not create his own asoundrc, Dapper's ALSA version supports the cmi9761 codec just fine. I've attempted to reproduce this issue using Dapper's {firefox,realplay (from dapper-commercial),libasound2,linux-image-2.6.15-27-386} and can't.
