I opened the sound volume master in toolbar and found the speakers were turned off. I turned them on. Then went to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and commented out the penultimate line. I have sound again. However, I have two questions. 1) Why is the speakers shut off in the master volume control in the tool bar? 2) Why to have sound does the penultimate line in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base need to be commented out? (Look below to see what I did.) _______________________________________________________________ I had sound with Dapper Alpha after I commented the penultimate line in /ect/modprobe.d/alsa-base. 2006-04-24 14:51:43 Sef description Sound: VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller Update: I forgot I had another step to do. I opened the sound volume master in toolbar and found the speakers were turned off. I turned them on. Then went to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and commented out the penultimate line. I have sound again. However, I have two questions. 1) Why are the speakers shut off in the master volume control in the tool bar? 2) Why to have sound does the penultimate line in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base need to be commented out? (Look below to see what I did.) _______________________________________________________________ I had sound with Dapper Alpha after I commented the penultimate line in /ect/modprobe.d/alsa-base. 2006-04-26 06:34:28 Sef description Sound: VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller Update: I forgot I had another step to do. See bug report #36089. Update: I forgot I had another step to do.
