ipw2200 firmware error, delay of up to a minute on boot

Bug Description
Upon boot, when configuring network interfaces I get two "ipw2200:firmware error
detected message". The issue then seems to resolve itself and things move on.
The error messages starting appearing with a 3 Oct Breezy update, but I think
the problem was there before this as it would take up to a minute to get past
this step in the boot process. The same firmware error message appears on shutdown.
