2006-02-18 23:54:22 DominikBodi linux-source-2.6.15: statusexplanation Bugzilla status=RESOLVED WONTFIX, product=Ubuntu, component=linux I've been having similiar problems since dapper flight 3. I have to use the "irqpoll" kernel boot option in order to get USB working. However, when I am using that option I get the same "drive appears to be confused" messages when the cd/dvd drive is polled. In my case, first a couple of the message trickle in, then after a few minutes they flood in, freezing my laptop. When I'm not using the irqpoll option, the drive seems to work find. However, then I won't have USB and I am getting lots of APIC errors etc. see bug #27163 I had to use the irqpoll option sind dapper flight 2 (I did not test df1) in order to get usb working. However, the df kernel did not produce these errors. With breezy, using "noapic nolapic" would also do the job, and in case of using "irqpoll" no problems would appear, either. I am currently downloading the lates daily dvd and will re-install it in order to provide logs.
