i915 drm GPU hang, GUI freeze with flickering

Bug Description

GUI suddenly freezes and starts flickering, dmesg:

Few months ago the same symptoms started to occur as well after upgrade to kernel 5.8.0-49 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-hwe-5.8/+bug/1924624) but they seemed to be fixed with 5.8.0-52.
Now after upgrade to 5.11.0-25, the problem seems to be back.

System is Ivy Bridge i7-3770 with iGPU HD4000.

Please attach the full system log containing the error. If you experience a hang and have to reboot then you can run this command to collect the log of the previous boot:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
