Bug Description
Im trying to install the latest ATI drivers on my 3870x2, and as I just started using linux im a bit of a nub but eager to learn. Ive been trying to decifer what is happening but here is the log as too where things start going wrong in the install.

I'm getting a very similar problem here.
I installed the restricted-modules driver to get the card going, but when I discovered that left me with no control panel I decided to install the fglrx driver instead.
Doing so resulted in this:
