Bug Description

My system is IBM laptop T42P with ATI FireGL T2 and using restricted driver.

Everything works fine with Gusty. Now after upgraded to Hardy, I can reboot and log in fine the first time. But if I log out and then log back in then one of these two will happen:

1/ After log out, I will get a black screen and the system is completely hung, must turn off power.
2/ Sometime I got the log in screen back, but after logging in the system is completely hung, must turn off power.

Has anyone else reported this? Please let me know what info do you need me to submit.

Regards,

One additional comment is that if I turn off ATI restricted driver then everything is fine.

I am agree that it is not gdm problem. But this problem only happened
after upgraded to Hardy or fresh installed of Hardy.

Hi tienhn,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.
