This is the problem about:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/31200

1) Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit updated
2) xorg-driver-fglrx 1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.12-17.36 0
3) I expected fglrx to work
4) I tried to install the new ATI driver 8.3/8.4 on Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit in many different ways, but never works and gets stuck with a black screen, with no error message. (32 bit version works regularly!!!)
No changes by disabling memory mapping in the bios!!!
