Installing fglrx driver via GUI breaks X on Dell Inspiron 1501

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

Hardware: Dell Inspiron 1501, ATI IGP Xpress X1150
Software: BIOS v2.3, Ubuntu Gutsy (Updated June 21st)

After installing the ATI Accelerated Graphics Driver via the Restricted Drivers Manager GUI, X fails to start after failing to find a display. The log contains an error which states atiddxsetup detected X.org 1.3.0.0 requires 7.1.0.0.

Downgrading to Xorg fixes the problem, or manually installing the newest fglrx driver off the ati website will also fix it.
