Just to add to the other confirmation entries on here, I can confirm the problem occurs with both STR and STD running fglrx on a Dell Inspiron 9300 with ATI Mobility Radeon X300 graphics. The machine just hangs before it gets to actually suspend/hibernate and the only way to get the machine back up and running is with a hard reset.
