Restricted drivers manager does not load fglrx module

Bug Description

On Gutsy tribe 1, enabling restricted drivers fails for ATI fglrx driver. Package is downloaded but the module never gets loaded. After 1 attempted, the driver shows up as not in use but cannot be enabled, clicking enable results in just a grayed out restricted drivers app that can only be closed and forgotten about.
Steps to reproduce: on ATI chipset that requires fglrx driver for 2/3D acceleration, system>administration>restricted drivers manager>enable ATi driver> watch fail.

Hardware: HP dv5139us laptop
ATi x200m graphic chipset
Ubuntu 7.10 tribe 1

Works flawlessly in Feisty.

Changed in restricted-manager:

Sort of the same problem, X starts but not loading fglrx. Looking at the xrg logs, I can see that it enables aiglx, wich seems to me being a nonsense with ATI's drivers.

Ever since I updated to Gutsy, I've been unable to use ATI's drivers, wether it was with the restricted-manager, the repositories or ATI's installer.

It fails to open a DRI device (according to the logs)
