Bug Description

Everything worked fine for my until I upgraded my system last night. I noticed an update to nvidia-glx and linux-restricted-modules which are the likely culprits. I'm attaching I tried several changes to the xorg.conf, but keep getting the error message "Failed to load module "wfb" (module does not exist, 0)" unless I change the driver to nv. This prevents me from using the nvidia driver (which worked until yesterday) at all. I'm attaching the Xorg.0.log. I'm happy to provide more info if necessary.

I don't think this bug is a duplicate of the bug marked above. According to lspci I have the following graphics card:
nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7600 GT] (rev a1)
This card is listed as supported in the list linked from the other bug.

I think I had similar problem. After "clean" installation of Kubuntu feisty beta amd64, nvidia driver did not work. After a full update the problem was fixed.

However, I still have an error message in Xorg.0.log:
(EE) Failed to load module "wfb" (module does not exist, 0)

However it seems to be still present. I'll mark it as duplicate of Bug #98641.

I had the same problem yesterday, and I still have it, but I discovered a way to fix it temporarily.
Believe it or not, the problem has nothing to do with the nvidia driver (at least in my case it doesn't)

I discovered that when you use the evdev device, the Event number for your device could change every time you reboot.
What you need to do is look for the new event number for your device:

cat /proc/bus/input/devices

and then edit your xorg.conf accordingly, to reflect the new number.

There's a way to force the system to use the same event number for a specific device.
If you do a search you may find it; I'll look for it later when I have more time, and id I find it, I'll point you to it or post it here.
Please do the same if you find the solution.
