Bug Description
In Feisty Fawn bèta, release date 23-3-2007, I cannot make the frequency of my TFT screen go higher than 50 Hz. Both in Edgy and in Dapper, this problem doesn't happen.
Hardware:
Videocard: Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440
Monitor: HP vs17e TFT screen 17 inch
The videocard is running on the restricted nvidia driver.
The first thing I did, was to install the restricted nvidia driver with the excellent built-in assistent, then reboot. At first, even the resolution of 1280x1024 was unattainable. This I could only achieve after running the command sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg in a terminal window. I had to put in some things manually in this reconfiguration tool, because it didn't automatically detect my videocard and monitor (in Dapper it did! Not so in Edgy: this known bug in the reconfiguration tool is still there, apparently). So far so good. Then reboot.
Now I had 1280x1024, but still only 50 Hz.
Then I copied the correct xorg.conf from my Dapper partition into my Feisty partition (both in Dapper and in Edgy everything runs fine at 60 Hz with this particular xorg.conf, also with the restricted nvidia driver). Then reboot. Not even this worked!
Hope you can remedy this, otherwise I would have to stick with Dapper and Edgy on my desktop....
Thank you for your bug report.

Please could you upload the following files when the fault happens:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
to this bug report?
