point behind vmware-server modules?

Bug Description
What's the point behind providing vmware-server modules without the vmware-server program (as a seperate package).
I ask, because I have the modules installed, downloaded vmware-server and I had to build the modules from their included source, so it doesn't seem to acomplish anything.
or am I missing something?

This bug can be closed.
If you change 2 lines o vmware init script these modules can be used from upstream vmware server.
The vmware-server package is on commercial repository now.
