Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X GPU and am using feisty (beta5). When i upgraded to nvida-glx version 1.0.9755+2.6.20.4-13.14 X windows won't start and displayed this error:

(WW) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X GPU installed in this
(WW) NVIDIA(0): system is supported through the NVIDIA 1.0-96xx Legacy
(WW) NVIDIA(0): drivers. Please visit

(WW) NVIDIA(0): information. The 1.0-9755 NVIDIA driver will ignore this
(WW) NVIDIA(0): GPU. Continuing probe...
(EE) No devices detected.

I downgraded the nvidia-glx to 1.0.9631+2.6.20.2-9.8 but it displayed this error when i tried to start gdm:

(II) NVIDIA(0): Support for GLX with the Damage and Composite X extensions is
(II) NVIDIA(0): enabled.
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module! Please ensure
(EE) NVIDIA(0): that there is a supported NVIDIA GPU in this system, and

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Please consult the NVIDIA README for details.

(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(II) UnloadModule: "ramdac"
(II) UnloadModule: "fb"
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

I figured, that's because of the kernel (linux-image-2.6.20-13-386), so i tried to use linux-image-2.6.20-12-386 and it worked!

Keep up the good work.
