Bug Description

I noticed that there wasn't an ia64 build of Intrepid Ibex, so I went investigating. It appears that the ia64 build of 2.6.25-2.3 failed because linux-ports-2.6.25/debian/abi/2.6.25-1.2/ia64/ia64-generic.modules was missing:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ports/2.6.25-2.3/+build/726639

So I went and looked to see what happened with the 2.6.25-1.2 build for ia64 and found that it failed because module aes_generic was missing:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ports/2.6.25-1.2/+build/622775

Further investigation showed that the config file (linux-ports-2.6.25/debian/config/ia64/config) in both -2.3 and -1.2 had CONFIG_CRYPTO_AES disabled (along with many other crypto options). I took a look at the config file on my hardy/ia64 system (/boot/config-2.6.24-22-mckinley) and it had CONFIG_CRYPTO_AES enabled.

With this information I was able to rebuild 2.6.25-1.2 with AES enabled, grab the abi files for 2.6.25-2.3 and build it without a problem. However, the system failed to find the root device on the next boot. This appears to be because the cciss driver (used for HP SmartArray devices) was disabled.

I'm now thinking that linux-ports-2.6.25/debian/config/ia64/config needs to be completely redone by using the config file from linux_2.6.24-22.45.

What would we need to do to get that done?

Thanks,
Bryan
