Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image

I just updated from 10.10 to 11.04 on my G5. This updated the kernel to linux-image-2.6.38-7-powerpc64-smp ... unfortunately this kernel does not boot. I just see "/boot/vmlinux: invalid ELF image" or a similar message. I was able to boot using my old kernel.

This problem happens with 2.6.38-7.37 as well as the just-released 2.6.38-7.38

This is a huge issue. A non-booting default kernel seems like something to be concerned about... why is there no motion on this ticket?

Dupe of #714165 ?
