Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-hppa32

When attempting to install Intrepid Ibex on an PA-RISC based HP c3650 it failed to find the CD-ROM. I booted into hardy and saw that the ide-cd kernel module was needed for the CD-ROM, but that is no where to be found when installing from this iso image:

Same problem with Jaunty (daily 20081202):

I noticed that the install kernel is 2.6.25-2-hppa32. Isn't that a little old? The Intrepid kernel on my laptop is 2.6.27-7, so I would have thought Jaunty's install kernel would have been at least 2.6.28...

I tried doing an install of Intrepid on my Apple iBook2 (dual-usb, 500MHz G3, PowerPC, 384MiB memory) and ran into this same problem where the CD-ROM could not be found.
