no sound on ia64

Bug Description
I just installed 8.04 hardy on my zx2000 and everything seems to work just fine except DRI (which is sorta expected) and sound, the latter being surprising.
Turns out CONFIG_SOUND is disabled in the kernel configuration, depriving me of the use of my ForteMedia onboard sound chip...
Any particular reason for disabling sound on ia64? This soundcard worked flawlessly to date (was running Debian Etch).
