Bug Description

The computer freezes very often and nothing abnormal seems to appear in /var/log/message after reboot.
Magic Keys are unable to make a clean reboot.
Changing the AGP graphic card and video driver doesn't solve the problem, same with newer kernel 2.6.32.9 from kernel.ubuntu.com

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately.]

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue.

If this bug really is a bug in the linux-meta package you can move it back to linux-meta and tag it kj-linux-meta, or contact us on the #ubuntu-kernel channel on the FreeNode IRC server. Thanks.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Exactly the same symptoms here, issue appeared after patching kernel to 2.6.31.20.

Even worst, during file copy (huge amount of big files) I got I/O errors that I beleive are linked to the freeze (well at least I hope, never had this before).

Couldn't find any errors in usual logs
