Logitech Communicate STX video doesn't work with skype. (intrepid)

What I have:
Logitech Communicate STX webcamera (Bus 003 Device 005: ID 046d:08d7 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX)
with Kubuntu 8.10 amd64. (2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Oct 30 04:12:22 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

What works: module gspca_zc3xx being loaded, audio from webcam works, /dev/video0 being created.
What doesn't: video from webcam with skype.
How did I test:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so camorama -- video works nice.
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so kopete -- video works but with low fps.
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype -- video from my other v4l device (tvtuner) being shown instead of camera output.
skype (from mediubuntu with v4l dependency and bugfix for lib dependency)/

It seems to be skype bug in video device selection list.
Set right device, press apply, then reopen dialog. Now press "Test" button and right device will be tested.

Same problem here.. green scrambled test video image. There is only one webcame listed/connected.. no opportunity to make any other selection?

I have the same problem in ubuntu intrepid. Green scrambled test image. Trying to preload vl4compat gives error message:

$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.

With camorama camera works fine with pre loading.
