Bug Description

Hi,

I have Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (64-bit) on HP Pavilion g6.
When I use the built-in touchpad, after a random time the touchpad stops responding. The keyboard stops working as well. The only thing that would work is the USB mouse, but only when it is plugged in the USB 3.0 port. In other words, it seems to disable all USB 2.0 as well. So I use the mouse to asleep the machine and after the wake-up all is fine, until I use the touchpad again.

The power cord in or out has no effect on it.
I observe this bug since 12.04.

Could anyone help?
Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1513402/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

So, yesterday I installed new kernel, now I am on

Since then I used my laptop for several hours only with the touchpad and the power cord unplugged (before such configuration led to the freeze the quickest). I also tried to suspend and wake the laptop several times and so far no freezing!

I don't know, however, what in the old kernel might have been causing the problem.
If anybody knows, let me know too.

Thanks.

Well, the freezing is back.

Is there anybody who can help? I have been replying to myself for a whole week.

Thanks.
