complete loss of network and audio functionality

upon booting kernel linux-image-3.19.0-65-generic on a Latitude E5570 all network completely functionality stops working.
After a bit more looking at the system it seems that also audio has stopped working.

BIOS version is 01.08.03 which is the latest.

I've just tried to install linux-image-3.19.0-66-generic but this has the same issues
