[Satellite C50D-A0302] Touchpad detected as PS/2 Generic Mouse

The touchpad is not detected as a touchpad but as a normal mouse. There's no "Touchpad" tab in "All Settings > Mouse and Touchpad". It works as a normal mouse, but scrolling, "press both buttons at the same time for middle button" and probably other features don't work.

Hi,
I am using toshiba C50D with ubuntu 12.04
I also had this problem , but i could fix it by installing its correct driver (Alps touchpad ) from https://github.com/he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7
So just try that

Thanks so much harish2704. This worked perfectly. I just had to change the first line of "install.sh" from "#!/bin/sh" to "#!/bin/bash", and then following the instructions in "README.md" got my touchpad recognized and working.

This issue seems to be fixed in Trusty Tahr. My touchpad was recognized and worked straight away with Trusty Tahr.
