Bug Description

CID: 201202-10508 Dell Inspiron 5420

This issue was found in 12.04.2, cause by the lack of alx driver. (bug 927782)

For 12.04.3 stock image, the Ethernet works fine when installed by USB.
It works fine with LiveUSB as well.

However, it's unable to boot from Internet, kernel panic will occur.

Here is the last thing that I can read from the screen:

Begin: Loading essential drivers ... [ 5.506492] Btrfs loaded
[ 5.510499] xor: automatically using best checksumming function:
[ 5.546543] avx : 18213.000 MB/sec
[ 5.546992] device-mapper: dm-raid45: initialized v0.2594b
done.
Begin: Running /scripts/init-premount ... done.
Begin: Mounting root file system ... [ 5.802369] [drm] Enabling RC6 states: RC6 on, RC6p off, RC6pp off
[ 6.302349] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x00000200
[ 6.302349]
[ 6.302391] drm_kms_helper: panic occurred, switching back to text console

I think AR8161 is affected too.
