Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic

on booting with a 2.6.35, machine freezes at the very beginning with message :

ubuntu 2.6.35 : EISA : Cannot allocate resource for mainboard
Cannot allocate resource for EISA slot 1
                       ...
                EISA : Detected 0 cards

Then I can only power down.

The machine boots all right with a 2.6.32.

This is a 32bit ubuntu on a x86-64 machine ; I tried a 64 version too with a live CD, which wouldn't boot either

I do as asked uname -a ... , but of course with the 2.6.32 and not the faulty 2.6.35

pier@asusubu32~% uname -a
Linux asusubu32 2.6.32-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 17 20:26:08 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

pier@asusubu32~% cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 2.6.32-25.44-generic 2.6.32.21+drm33.7

Vous utilisez Ubuntu 10.10 - nommée Maverick Meerkat -
sortie en octobre 2010 et prise en charge jusqu'en avril 2012.

Package : linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic (i tried ...-pae too)

I expected the machine would boot

what it did not :-)

I'm using debian sid on the same machine too.

linux-image-2.6.37-1-amd64 just came into sid.
It works all right on my machine.

Cheers.

There have been several updates to the linux-lts-backport-maverick kernel. Does this issue still exist on the version that is currently in -proposed? That version is 2.6.35-28.50~lucid1.
