I just accidentally fixed this bug. I was looking at this patch:

  https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/891982/

After applying it to linux-linaro-3.0 I happened to noticed that rebooting started to work again on my Overo. It almost seems a little shady that this fixes the issue.

Since patchwork is down, I'm including a link to the emailed patch:

Is this still happening with the 11.09 RC image?

Is this overo only or could it explain what deepti is seeing?

Seems this is overo only, and the fix is not included at our current
linux-linaro tree/package.

John, can you apply this fix and respin the package?

But I also know deepti was having similar issues with Panda and
Beagle, but not sure about her progress on that yet.

My problem at least on 2011-08-29 was fixed with the patch which should only affect Overo. I believe my panda and beagle reboot, so I think Deepti is seeing something else. FYI - I tested today's nano snapshot for panda and reboot works

I just wanted to confirm. reboot works for beagle on the 2011-09-29 build, so this is specific to Overo in my case.

The new 3.1 kernel has the patch I mentioned and reboot now works.

Tested with:
 * kernel: 3.1.0-2-linaro-omap
 * http://snapshots.linaro.org/oneiric/overo-oneiric/20111023/

Changed in linux-linaro-omap (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released
Changed in linaro-ubuntu:
status: New → Fix Released
