[X13s] Latest Ubuntu X13s concept still resets sometimes

Also the latest Ubuntu X13s concept—after release upgrade to Mantic (6.5.0-1002-laptop)—still resets „randomly“. Though the uptime is now sometimes hours (not minutes) it‘s still not reliable.

It seems this behavior is Ubuntu related, as folks from #aarch64-laptops running WIP branches or mainline on arch and xorg are not seeing this.

Unfort. I do not have a pointer to some err logs. But will update if find something.

Thanks for the report. What is your definition of 'reset'? Crash? Hang? Black screen? Strack trace? Anything on the display?

Yeah, sry. :-/ Not exactly precisely described.

But Here „reset“ means crash. Not hang, leaving no time for any interaction. Essentially screen going black, followed by a reboot. hth

Hmm. Haven't seen that yet. Are you running the latest BIOS? I'm running V 1.57 (7/26/2023).

Yes, I‘m on latest BIOS as well.

I‘m actually seeing this happen for quite a while now. But only when someone else on aarch64-laptops mentioned ^1 seeing it as well, I filed the bug.

I was daily driving the x13s, but then this happened way to often, so wasn‘t sustainable anymore.

Anyway, I‘m well aware that I need to bring some more „meat to the matter“ by means of some logs or such…

@juergh do you have a tip or hint for some log or mechanism I could look into?

I am experiencing this myself as well from time to time.

There are also pending "Lenovo Boot Critical" update in vantage which fails to apply for me, which I believe is due to ESP being too small. Also no idea if that will fix anything.

I will be escalating this to Lenovo as well.

I was having this issue as well, I was able to resolve it by installing cinnamon and lightdm, then I uninstalled geoclue and all the gnome packages that depend on it. I first noticed that the resets didnt happen when cinnamon was running in software rendering mode, but since then I've been running in hardware rendering mode for several days without one reset.
