Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

( You've filed this as a problem with the `do-release-upgrade` or upgrade tool that upgrades a system from 20.04 to 22.04 LTS. It appears the upgrade completed successfully and you're now running 22.04 using the HWE kernel stack (5.19 currently). Your issue appears to be with linux (kernel) on 22.04 . As you filed against the upgrade process; details about that process were uploaded to this report, and not details about the linux kernel/modules etc that impact wifi; which may make it harder to detect issues & work on report. )

affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) → linux-hwe-5.19 (Ubuntu)

Update:

Ok, but here you are talking about a wired connection:

Anyway I think I have found the root issue: I had the 'tuned' daemon set to the most aggressive level (profile "powersave"). Changing the profile, the dongle is stable again, so I am not affected any more.

summary: - network connection is lost every minute
+ network connection is lost every minute on Realtek rtl8152/3 USB
+ Ethernet dongles

It was awhile ago I filed this problem, but I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with USB dongle. (Well, at least in my case ).
I was on wifi and wifi connection was dropped practically every minute, making it impossible to do anything.
Once I switched to wired connection - this problem disappeared. Wired connection is inconvenience, but significantly faster. Plus, remote ssh connection stopped being dropped.
Anyway, I believe it is all about wifi connection.

Thank you.
