Note - Chance of regression is pretty low since the -5 API version of this new firmware file is only used by drivers from the compat-wireless backports package.

Tim, the lucid queue had three linux-firmware uploads, one with an invalid version number (1.38.x), the next with an invalid source.changes (includes 1.34.4 changelog, which is in -updates already), and the third a non-consecutive 1.34.7 upload which only refers to another bug, but doesn't includ the previous changes. Can you please do a new 1.34.5 upload with both changes, or if that is impractical, reupload 1.34.7 built with -v1.34.4? Thanks!

Martin - I'm quite confused as to how a 1.38.x version could have ended up in the lucid-proposed queue. The changelog looks correct, so I've repackaged and reuploaded with '-v1.34.4' .

Martin - OK I figured out how a 1.38.x package got uploaded to Lucid. I messed up the Maverick package changelog. I've redone the Maverick package and re-uploaded.

This bug was fixed in the package linux-firmware - 1.34.7

---------------
linux-firmware (1.34.7) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * update iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode for 5000 series devices
    version: 8.83.5.1 - fix "tid mismatch" issue
    - LP: #728510

linux-firmware (1.34.6) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * iwlwifi: 9.201.4.1 iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode
    - LP: #727653

linux-firmware (1.34.5) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  [ Stefan Bader ]

  * Pull firmware for ath9k-htc from Natty
    The ath9k-htc module is contained in the compat-wireless-2.6.37
    backports for Lucid and Maverick. However the firmware for that module
    is missing.

I just upgraded some lucid boxen, saw the ChangeLog pointing to this bug, and checked the following:

wget http://intellinuxwireless.org/iwlwifi/downloads/iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.83.5.1-1.tgz
tar xzvf iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.83.5.1-1.tgz
sha1sum iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.83.5.1/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode
22bf6093ed8204027cc3207c739d2cab9cc92ea3 iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.83.5.1/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode
8d94177b509be3fb653ce8ba0c633244e4abf5f3 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode

So the microcode at the page mentioned in the bug description is different (or has changed in the meantime?) to the microcode which ended up in the patch.
