hi Tim,

these files exist, but they have been registered on nov-2012, so its not what is expected.
wonder if i can delete these old files, and then reinstall linux-firmware.
Is there a way to list which app/process/gui/... is/are using these files ?

Googling aroung ipw2200, i've found that project:
http://www.t2-project.org/packages/ipw2200-fw.html

which is a kernel wifi module

note: when i check the *.fw image propeties, they are identied as x-tga (the nov-2012 ones). Maybe this image failing upgrade is related to an other tga format, which seems unknown & unsupported.

As far as I know these files are just simple firmware binaries used by the kernel. I think nautilus is trying to interpret them as something they aren't. Thumbnails for non-graphical files simply don't make sense. As such, I'm marking this bug as invalid.

Changed in linux-firmware (Ubuntu Raring):
status: In Progress → Invalid
