Bug Description

On a clean updated 14.04 i686 I've installed the b43 driver/firmware by simply installing the firmware-b43-installer and I got the behavior. Later I installed additionally the linux-firmware-nonfree but it didn't change a thing. What basically happens is:
[ 1276.674500] wlan0: authenticate with 00:24:d1:7a:23:d9
[ 1276.685246] wlan0: direct probe to 00:24:d1:7a:23:d9 (try 1/3)
[ 1276.888134] wlan0: direct probe to 00:24:d1:7a:23:d9 (try 2/3)
[ 1277.092106] wlan0: direct probe to 00:24:d1:7a:23:d9 (try 3/3)
[ 1277.296170] wlan0: authentication with 00:24:d1:7a:23:d9 timed out

And so on.

The attached system info has been acquired after I tried the linux-firmware-nonfree after uninstalling (purge) the firmware-b43-installer package. The system has not been modified in any other way.

Isn't there a deb somewhere I could use to install beta firmware? Or a deb allowing me to downgrade to some older version?

I've just tried Manjaro Netbook edition manjaro-netbook-0.8.9-i686.iso and it's all same. Exactly the same 'timed out' message in dmesg.
[manjaro@manjaro ~]$ lsmod | grep -i b43
b43 341673 0
bcma 31280 1 b43
mac80211 402934 1 b43
cfg80211 345465 2 b43,mac80211
ssb 48195 1 b43
mmc_core 87040 2 b43,ssb
pcmcia 40213 2 b43,ssb

Unloading b43 and loading brcmsmac module will result in 'no wireless extensions' at iwconfig.
