Bug Description

The WWAN module of the x201 does not work out of the box in Lucid. A rather invasive patch by mjg59 is needed. This topic was already discussed on the Ubuntu kernel mailing list, see https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2010-May/010607.html and following.

The debug info is most likely not useful as the laptop this bug was reported from is not an x201.

Hi Torsten,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

An initial version of the LBM package has been uploaded to http://people.canonical.com/~smb/lp592046/. Can someone please do some testing? Due to licensing the package cannot provide the required firmware files. Please see http://www.codon.org.uk/~mjg59/gobi_loader/ for more information.

Confirming that the LBM package from #7 enables the gobi 2000 in my Thinkpad T410s to work with Network Manager as expected (using 2.6.32-23)
I used amss.mbnand apps.mbn from the folder "6" and UQCN.mbn from the folder "UMTS", my carrier is o2 (Germany).

It would be great to have a package for 2.6.23-24 which is the current kernel in lucid atm.
