Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delayed response. Seeing as you've both tested linux-backports-modules, I'd be curious if you'd be willing to test the latest upstream compat-wireless stack? I wrote up the following wiki which I hope will help - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/LinuxWireless . Ideally, we want to try and confirm if this issue exists upstream and notify the upstream developers asap. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

I installed the compat-wireless 2009-01-04 source from wireless.kernel.org and i've gotten three similar crash reports in the first hour of operation. They do not appear to affect my wireless connection. I'm attaching today's /var/log/messages. I installed the 2009-01-04 build around 3:04 AM, so you can see two crashes before that time and several after.

I'm using the ath5k module for an AR242x PCI card in my Lenovo X200 laptop.

With regards to system lockups, i can only say that my system locks up occasionally on resume from suspend, but this crash report appears with much higher frequency.

Hi Johnnyquist,

Would you be willing to do one more round of testing with the most recent usptream compat-wireless stack? The reason I ask is I've noticed some mac80211 and ath5k patches go in since you tested on the 4th. Thanks.

Hi Carl,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 303017

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
