My problem was due to an intermittent hardware fault. Acer repaired the
notebook and most of the time it works. I'm dual booting Visa and Ubuntu
8.04 and still have problems occasionally but when this happens both
operating systems are affected. I've found that removing mains power and
running off batteries for a bit always results in the card coming to
life. Strange but true.
I haven't had a chance to try Intrepid yet but will do so in the light
of your experience.
