Bug Description

[Impact]

Amazon maintains a custom patch to enable hibernation in Xen guests that is not upstream yet. This patch set has been updated in AWS AL2 and we should sync up the patch set in our AWS kernels.

[Test case]

Tests have been performed (simply doing multiple hibernate/resume cycles) with the new patch set applied and they have shown significant improvement in terms of reliability.

[Fix]

Backport/apply the new Xen hibernation patch set from AWS AL2.

[Regression potential]

The patch set is affecting only Xen (in particular the guest code) and only hibernation, so the risk of regressions is restricted to this particular scenario (Xen + hibernation).

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-done-bionic'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-failed-bionic'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!
