lintian should not depend upon dash, but rather, and complient shell.

Bug #68311 reported by Kevin Kubasik on 2006-10-26
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
lintian (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

lintian depends directly upon the dash package which is unnecessary and inaccurate, it should at least allow bash as a substitute, as it will run fine under bash.

Depends: perl, libdigest-md5-perl | perl (>> 5.8), dpkg-dev (>= 1.13.11ubuntu5), file, binutils, diffstat (>= 1.27-1), man-db (>= 2.3.20-1), gettext, intltool-debian, libparse-debianchangelog-perl (>= 0.6)
Suggests: binutils-multiarch

I see no dash in this list of dependencies in edgy.

Changed in lintian:
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected

My bad, when I went to install lintian, I also installed devscripts (which is something of a metapackage) The dependany must have come from there. My apologies.
