Bug Description

[ Impact ]

Lintian in stable releases of Ubuntu don't know about Plucky, and they should.

[ Test Case ]
1) Obtain or create a source.changes file targeted towards Plucky
2) Run 'lintian $package_source.changes'

[ Regression Potential ]

Even though regressions are unlikely due to the nature of the change (trivial),
theoretically, regressions would manifest when detecting known distributions.

[ Specific to Oracular ]

The Oracular fix depends on debhelper landing in oracular-proposed and publishing, due to bug 2083651. Please do *not* release this SRU to Oracular prior to releasing the debhelper fix.

With the current version of lintian you'll receive the following error:

E: $package changes: bad-distribution-in-changes-file plucky

With the new version of Lintian you'll receive no such error.

Steve Langasek (vorlon) wrote : Proposed package upload rejected

An upload of lintian to oracular-proposed has been rejected from the upload queue for the following reason: "the lintian in oracular-proposed is not a candidate for SRU and an SRU should not be based on it".

The verification of the Stable Release Update for lintian has completed successfully and the package is now being released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions.
