libre office paste from konsole font

-- first I don't know if it is libreoffice, KDE or konsole that is responsible for this but I had to start somewhere and libreoffice is where the problem is felt...
If I copy-paste (middle mouse button) from a shell (konsole) into libreoffice (something I do regularly) then since kubuntu 16.xx the paste text includes font attributes rather than just plain text.
So imagine I edit a document that is times new roman font 10pt and paste some text in it arrives as 12pt monospace rather than 10pt roman.
I cannot imagine why this might ever be desirable and it is a complete pain in the arse. Whoever thought this was a sensible idea please revert it ASAP!
[ this could be libreoffice assuming that middle button pastes want to be 12pt monospace or plaintext pastes should be 12pt mono or it could be KDE konsole offering additional unwanted font info in the clipboard]
