I had "libpam-winbind" and "winbind" packages installed. This is what was causing it to hang for me. There was a configuration screen that was not being displayed when installing from the command line that was stating that libpam-winbind was incompatible with likewise-open. Removed winbind packages and likewise open installed successfully.
