Bug Description

Binary package hint: likewise-open

I think that the domainjoin command (both CLI and GUI) should tell you that it's better to setup ntpdate to sync time with the DC, and maybe do that automatically.

If you don't do that and dates are not synched between the workstation and the DC, auth tickets won't work.

That should at least be documented.

It is documented in Likewise Open Installation and Administration Guide. Short of removing ntpdate entirely (which you cannot do easily, as it is part of ubuntu-minimal), I am not sure how you would prevent ntpdate from being run when an interface come up.

I have reported bug #322518 about disabling ntpdate being non-obvious. But I guess warning about and/or having an option for changing the default NTP server used in domainjoin-cli and -gui would be best.

Confirmed that the 5.4 packages will continually sync the time with the DC. ntpdate is a non-issue now I think.
