Bug Description

Sunbird 0.5 is actually in the Ubuntu Gutsy repositories, but the langpacks should be included to give language support but they aren't

Status: sunbird locales done; lightning locales still missing - work in progress.

The langpacks can be found here :

http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/sunbird/releases/0.5/langpacks/

If no one can take this job, I can do it.

I would like to ask a new file exception for the sunbird language packages.

Sunbird has been added to Gutsy but doesn't have any language support while I think it should, like other mozilla apps ( Firefox, Thunderbird).

Because the language packs are quite simple ( extracted xpi sunbird extension files ) and because this package is just a clone of the Thunderbird language package which is totally stable, I think that it cannot affects Ubuntu or causes problems. The languages have all been tested and works with actual Sunbird release.

I created the package and uploaded it to REVU here :

I think this ia generally a good idea, but I'd like to see someone from mozillateam review the package. Ack from me contigent on a mozillateam upcheck.

I already subscribed mozillateam. I believe they have an IRC channel, but am
not sure. If they do, you might ask them there.

According to Alexander Sack recommandations, I changed the bad FETCHADDRESS for the good one in the rules file and converted control file to UTF-8

Like the thunderbird-locales packages, update-xpi still doesn't work yet.

New REVU update is here :

Anyone interesting to do the same for the lightning extensions?

Great!

The source package will be uploaded by MOTU now, right? Do I have something to do around that or it's all ok?

asac : there's no language pack for lightning and the reason is that the latest build automatically detect the current language in thunderbird and switch to the good language according to the Jar files inside the chrome folder of the extension itself. So I think that lightning-extension should just be updated to the latest version and it will always be in the good language for everyone.

Latest build : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/2313

Because I have limited knowledge, I think that I wouldn't be able to update the sunbird-lightning source package for you.

I just installed the lightning-extension, but it did not appear in current language (German) but English. Thunderbird locales are german and are all fine, only lightning is in English. Should i open a new bug report for that?

I'm currently working to bring lightning-locales for Ubuntu Guts with the help of asac.

If you open a bug for that, please paste the bug # as I can subscribe to it and let comments about it.

I think that creating a bug for this won't be necessary, except if for any reason the process get hang by something but it shouldn't. My work on lightning-locales is almost finished and 20 language packs works on 21.

Thanks for your comment
