Installed from ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64.iso inside of VMware Workstation 8.0.1 using the "easy install". After starting the virtual machine, lightdm does not start automatically. After logging in at the command line and typing "sudo lightdm", it starts as usual.

Thank you for your bug report, could you try if that happens with the gtk greeter? It seems rather due to the unity-greeter than to lightdm itself there

Changed in lightdm (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Incomplete

Oops, sorry, this should have been closed Invalid. This was caused by VMWare's "easy install", apparently.
