Bug Description

The case is:
After the 24/03/12 updates for ubuntu 12.04 my user (admin user) gets no login of Lightdm.
seeing the XorgLog i get this:

This is in fact a Lightdm bug, using gdm works flawlessly

Thank you for your bug report, could you add your /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log to the bug after getting the issue as well as ~/.xsession-errors for the user you tried to log in to?

Could you add your .xsession-errors as well? The lightdm log suggests the session is correctly started from lightdm but exit later on

I had this issue following an update. Turns out my .Xauthority file was 600 root:root. I gave it back to my user and was able to log in ok. Looks like something caused root to claim sole ownership.

.Xauthority permissions that was my problem too.
