log in is rejected by lightdm, cli works

After startup I try to log on. The screen flickers quickly showing some CLI fu and then I'm back to the login screen.
When I switch to tty I can log in as the same user who will be rejected on the graphical login. I then switch back to X and I can log in.

I hope this helps and I can reproduce it.
